The grate system in the Harman Mark I is among Harman's. most popular innovations and is backed by a full five year free replacement warranty. Pea, nut, or stove coal burns to a fine ash, which is shaken into a pan below. An external shaker lever allows the grates to be operated with the doors closed to eliminate dust and reduce the chance of hot fly-ash getting into your home.  The ash door gives easy access to the ash pan for removal.
